Live-In Caregiver Program

Facilitates entry of qualified caregivers when Canadian employers are unable to fill caregiving positions locally.

The original Live-in Caregiver Program facilitated the entry of qualified caregivers when employers could not find Canadians or permanent residents to fill these positions. The program no longer accepts new caregiver applications, but caregivers already in Canada under the program retain their pathway to permanent residence.

Successor pilots — Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker — provide current routes to permanent residence for new caregiver applicants with qualifying Canadian job offers.
