FST candidates need at least two years of full-time work experience in a qualifying skilled trade within the last five years, along with a valid job offer of at least one year or a Canadian certificate of qualification in that trade.
Language requirements are lower than FSW (CLB 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for reading and writing).
